"So let me get this straight," Dean Tillsdale leaned over her desk with and steepled her hands. "There's a house here on campus that's willfully ignoring one measly rule out of their charter?" Her expression darkened. "I hope you haven't come all this way to my office only to waste my time."

Paula shifted uncomfortably in her chair. The dean's gaze threatened to bore laser holes in her skull. Sweat soaked her armpits and her hands were cold and clammy. She forced herself to tell her story. "Y-yes ma'am. I mean, no ma'am; I'm not here to waste your time. This is serious. It's Vander House. Right next to mine. They uh- they're uh- ignoring their number one rule and disobeying their House Leader. It started off pretty innocent, but now, it kind of spiraled out of control. I mean, things have accelerated. It's-"

"Christ, woman- either spit it out, or get out of my office!" the dean growled.

This gave Paula a start. Flustered, she continued. "Uh- well, the rule they have is no junk food. But I mean, you should see the amount of groceries they buy! And it's all going to their House Leader. I think it was supposed to be some secret arrangement at first, but now it's like they're doing it on purpose. She's gotten so fat!"

This last sentence triggered a lightning-quick shift in the dean's expression. Tillsdale went from supremely annoyed to raptly attentive. "Hmm. Do go on."
